Sacrificial Generosity

Giving demonstrates our dependence on God. We acknowledge that all we own has been given to us by Him. In His generosity toward us, God desires that we, too, are generous and will use our resources as a tangible way to partner with Him in His work in the world and in the lives of those around us. We are blessed to be a blessing (Genesis 12:2).

Connect & Reflect

  1. Did you interact with the Daily Reflections this past week? If so, were any of them impactful? Feel free to look through what you recorded in your Life in Rhythm journal as you share with the group.
  1. As you reflect back on this weekend’s message and the video teaching on Sacrificial Generosity, discuss the following questions as a group:
  • How have you experienced other people’s generosity in your life?
  • How have you experienced God’s generosity in your life?
  • The apostle Paul encourages us to give what God has laid on our heart to give, not “reluctantly” but with a “cheerful” heart (2 Corinthians 9:7).  When have you struggled with a reluctant heart in giving?  When have you experienced the joy of giving cheerfully?  Describe the circumstances.
  • 2 Corinthians 9:11 reminds us that God gives to those who are generous because He knows that they are going to become even more generous in giving.   How have you experienced God’s generosity whenever you’ve been generous in giving?  Describe the circumstances.
  • When we sacrificially give, it reveals that our faith is not in money, but in God to provide for us.  What does your giving reveal about your faith in God?
  • Personally consider what God might be calling you to give of your time, talent and treasure.  With His help, how could you become a more cheerful, generous giver?
  1. Close in prayer
